About Us
Khanpur Azad Gram Unnayan Samiti (KAGUS) is a welfare and development organization established in 1995. KAGUS is a non-government civil society organization working in an integrated and sustainable approach towards the betterment of the lives of disadvantaged communities. KAGUS is formed by the marginalies people who aspire for the dignified lives of the poor, marginalized and disadvantaged women, destitute and the children through a sustainable and rights-based approach. KAGUS is working basically in the villages where three-fourths of the households pursue livelihood options that involve inefficient production methods of agriculture, fishing, and aquaculture. Most of the project areas of KAGUS are situated in the remotest and marginalized corners of the district. KAGUS became involved in local efforts to enhance the well-being of communities living in the region. It addresses a wide range of interlinked developmental issues faced by poverty-stricken communities and their children. We aspire for the dignified lives of the poor, marginalized, and disadvantaged women, and the destitute and children through a sustainable and rights-based approach. During the last three decades, Khanpur Azad Gram Unnayan Samity has been able to spread out the welfare and development activities in many villages, panchayats, blocks, and districts of West Bengal in India. The institution endeavors for fineness inequality and gender-balanced society, capacity building of poorest of the poor, marginalized and target women, socially excluded people and public especially emphasizing youth children and women. The path is lengthy and footsteps are very small, but still, our strongly belief that with the blessings of supreme power, we will certainly cover this extended excursion towards sustainable development and our society will be blessed with immeasurable love, harmony, contentment and happiness.

KAGUS Mission is the sustainable development of marginalised and vulnerable people to make them self-reliant and confident and improved quality of life through empowerment, education, information, infrastructure development, healthcare provision, and economic self-reliance by convergence of services provided by local self-governments hence women, children and focused on marginalised social groups. Therefore, we closely work together with them to achieve the above mentioned envisioned sustainable society.
